Are you or is someone you know at least 55 years of age and experiencing vision loss or a combined vision and hearing loss? Project Independence could help.

This vision program for seniors (also referred to as the Older Blind Program) is administered by the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency and provides services that can help you remain independent.

Services

Services to help you remain independent may include:

  • Daily Living Skills Training
  • Orientation and Mobility Training
  • Access Technology Training – learn to use assistive devices such as talking watches, big button phones and magnifiers
  • Support Groups that offer opportunities to learn from and interact with peers

To Apply

To Apply for Project Independence:

  1. Ask your eye specialist for a referral to VRS.
  2. Fill out the Application for Services and then mail, email, or fax it to our offices.
  3. Once your paperwork has been received by our office, we will call you to schedule your Comprehensive Low Vision Evaluation appointment.
