Vision Rehabilitation Services of Georgia Comprehensive Low Vision Evaluation

The first step is getting an evaluation. The Comprehensive Low Vision Evaluation is conducted by a Low Vision Specialist, an optometrist who is trained in the field of low vision. After a thorough review of the client’s medical and vision histories, the Low Vision Specialist conducts an evaluation of the functionality of the client’s vision.

Learn new skills and alternative techniques to help maintain independence. Vision Rehabilitation Therapists help clients identify their instructional needs and provide training in the various tools and strategies.

Changes in vision often means having to rethink the way one travels within the home and their community. An Orientation and Mobility (O&M) instructor guides the clients in evaluating their travel needs, challenges, and exploring appropriate tools and strategies to meet these needs.

Vision Rehabilitation Services of Georgia Project Independence of Georgia

Are you or someone you know at, least 55 years of age, experiencing vision loss or a combined vision and hearing loss? Project Independence could help.

This vision program for seniors (also referred to as the Older Blind Program) is administered by the Georgia Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and provides services that can help you remain independent.

Services are supported in part by funds from the United Way in Cobb County, Cobb County Government, contracts with Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, Project Independence, and school systems as well as various grants and private donations.  A private nonprofit organization under IRS guidelines, VRS is accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Blind and Low Vision Services.
